Among the rescued was fruit stand owner and Corvallis resident Jim Knight, who said it was the last thing he expected.
"I didn't want to be rescued," Knight said. "They made me come. I was here in the flood of 1996, and it's dry in the top part of the fruit stand, which is where I was gonna go once I got there."
Officials are putting Knight up in a hotel overnight.
Fire officials said they will be making welfare checks throughout the evening for people who live on the flooded stretch of the highway.
