EUGENE, Ore. -- Four Eugene schools have new synthetic turf fields.

North Eugene and South Eugene high schools, as well as Arts and Technology Academy and Spencer Butte Middle School, received the upgrade.

Eugene School District 4J officials say the synthetic turf fields provide durable, low-maintenance, all-weather playing surfaces, but they wear out over time and will need to be replaced periodically.

The school district and the City of Eugene split the cost of the new turf and share use of the facilities.
