EUGENE, Ore. – A Eugene man already accused of possessing child pornography now faces new sex abuse charges.
Edward Thompson, 40, was arraigned Tuesday after being indicted on five counts each of first-degree rape, sodomy and sex abuse.
The charges involve a minor younger than 12, and the crimes allegedly happened between 2012 and Aug. 21, 2018, when he was arrested by the FBI and Eugene police.
At the time of his arrest Thompson was a long-term member and music ministry leader at Christ Fellowship Church in Eugene and a former member of the Eugene Faith Center. He also traveled outside Oregon to places in Montana, Idaho, California and Arizona.
The investigation is ongoing. Police believe there may be more victims.
