EUGENE, Ore. -- The first community testing in Eugene is underway Wednesday afternoon.
At least 100 people are at the Lane Events Center parking lot, 796 W. 13th Ave., waiting to get tested for coronavirus. Everyone is wearing masks.
The event started at 1 p.m. and will go to 5 p.m. Currently, the wait time is about 30 minutes.
The free testing focuses on frontline workers -- people who have been working through the pandemic in jobs that involve interaction with the public.
It follows previous events in rural areas of Lane County, and more testing is planned.
Tomorrow, testing will be held in Cottage Grove at the Health Hub parking lot, 1133 E. Main St., from 4 to 7 p.m.
Then, on July 21, testing will be held in Lowell at the library parking lot at 70 N. Pioneer St. from 1 to 4:30 p.m.
