CRESWELL, Ore.-- Four small fires broke out along Interstate 5 between Creswell and Cottage Grove Thursday afternoon.

Crews were called around 2:30 p.m.

At one point, both lanes of travel were backed up a couple of miles.

Crews said sparks coming from a U-Haul started the fires.

At this time, it’s not clear how much was burned, but all the fires are out now.

As firefighters were working the flames, others rushed to a nearby wreck that sent two people to the hospital.

The two-vehicle crash happened in the northbound lane at about 3:15 p.m., causing traffic to back up even further.
