EUGENE, Ore. – Firefighters responded to a fire late Tuesday morning at McMenamins High Street Brewery and Café.
A battalion chief said that when firefighters arrived they found fire extending through the roof from the restaurant's attic.
They made sure employees and customers were able to exit the building safely before they began working to put out the fire, he said. There were no injuries.
Firefighters called it in as a two-alarm fire because of the amount of smoke being seen in the building, he said.
A passerby had noticed smoke coming from the roof of the building and reported the fire at 11:53 a.m.
The cause of the fire has not been determined, but the battalion chief said it appeared to be centrally located. He said firefighters are still assessing the damage to the building, and a full report on the fire will take several days to complete.
The restaurant is located at 1243 High Street.
