COTTAGE GROVE, Ore. – An assisted living facility in Cottage Grove had to be evacuated on Monday due to a fire.
It started at about 9 a.m. at Magnolia Gardens Senior Living.
Fire officials said they arrived and found smoke filling the building. It came from an HVAC unit that froze up, they said.
Staff were able to evacuate everyone quickly and safely.
“Anytime we have an emergency at one of these assisted livings it’s always of concern as this is a definite vulnerable population as they try to evacuate in a timely manner due to a fire emergency,” said Joe Raade, South Lane Fire division chief.
No one was injured, and there was no serious damage to the building.
