JUNCTION CITY, Ore. -- A single vehicle accident closed Highway 99W between Ferguson Road and Lingo Lane Wednesday morning.
According to Junction City Fire, a brown 2015 Dodge Ram 2500 ran off the road and hit a tree around 2:45 a.m. When fire crews arrived, they said the vehicle was on fire. Crews said the driver was ejected and died on scene. Investigators say the driver left the roadway for an unknown reason and crossed over the southbound lane. According to OSP, the truck traveled 386 feet in the southbound ditch before striking the tree.
The Oregon Department of Transportation said the closure of Highway 99W was lifted shortly before 7:00 a.m. following the crash investigation.
ODOT said travelers should be cautious in the area and expect to see response crews on scene.
