EUGENE, Ore. – The Lane County Farmers Market returns to downtown Eugene Saturday with 25 local farmers and other vendors offering a variety of fresh food.
The market will be open Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Eighth Avenue and Oak Street.
“Here in the Willamette Valley, we are fortunate to live in an area where such a wide variety of produce can be grown,” said market director Angela Norman. “Enough so that we are able to support a bustling farmers market from February through December.”
Products available will include fruits and vegetables, meats, honey, eggs and salsa. Fresh produce at this week’s market will include beets, carrots, parsnips, turnips, radishes, leeks, onions, cabbage, potatoes, winter greens, apples and more.
The market’s mission is to preserve and strengthen the local farm and food economy by providing a vibrant public marketplace for farmers, Norman said. All foods sold are either grown by Oregon farmers or made in Oregon with a portion of locally grown ingredients. The market features more than 100 local growers and producers who sell at four seasonal markets 11 months of the year.
Customers can use Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) benefits at the market by visiting the market information booth.
