ALBANY, Ore. – A former attorney is facing identity theft charges in Linn County.
Detectives arrested Megan Moeller, 39, of Corvallis on Thursday in connection with a forgery investigation, Undersheriff Paul Timm said.
In 2016, Moeller, who was then Megan Perry, was a licensed attorney and had an office in downtown Albany. She was hired by a client over a child custody issue. Deputies said Moeller provided the client with documents “proving” legal papers had been served on the other party.
Investigators said the signatures on the document were forged and legal papers had not been served. Moeller faces three counts of identity theft.
Deputies said she resigned from the Oregon State Bar in 2018 following multiple complaints from clients.
