EUGENE, Ore. -- Councilors limited the days when residents can light off fireworks, fine tuning an ordinance that has gone through several iterations in the last few years.

Under the latest change, fireworks are only permitted on July 3, the Fourth of July, New Year's Eve, and New Year's Day.

Previously, fireworks were allowed from June 23 to July 6.

Commercial fireworks displays will only be permitted on July 3-5, unless specifically authorized by the city manager.

Councilors Mike Clark and Jennifer Yeh voted against the change, with Clark calling it "nonsense."
