EUGENE, Ore. – Police closed a Eugene road after a suspicious device was discovered in a field on Wednesday. It was a false alarm, however, police say.

The call came in just before noon and led to a 45-minute shutdown of West 7th Avenue between Seneca and Bailey Hill roads.

A local citizen reported the object, and the Eugene bomb squad came out to investigate. Police say they determined the object was not a threat to the public.

The road is currently open.
