EUGENE, Ore. -- One year later, and the ice storm is still a miserable memory frozen in time for many in Eugene.

Eugene was littered with fallen trees and branches, and roads were covered by sheets of ice. EWEB said at one point 20,000 customers lost power. It took the city until July to finish cleaning up the debris from the storm.

KEZI spoke to Phillip Lawson, who lives in South Eugene. He said he's preparing just in case another storm hits.

"There's certain things I could do to store water, store canned goods or store food in general or batteries, or buy a generator,” said Lawson.

Lawson’s not the only one preparing for a potential storm.

Staff with Eugene's public works department said they have more than doubled the amount of deicer they had last year and have added another plow truck.
