EUGENE, Ore. -- The City of Eugene is opening up tree planting season early after ample amounts of rain so far this September.

With warm soil and cool evening temperatures, the city’s urban forestry department says conditions are ripe for planting.

They’re opening all city property for planting now, compared to the typical time of mid-October.

This includes the right-of-way grass strip in front of people’s homes. However, you do need a permit before planting or removing trees on Eugene’s right-of-way property.
