EUGENE, Ore. -- Two Eugene police officers were injured while trying to take a suspect into custody Thursday morning.

Police said they responded to the 2900 block of Timberline Drive at about 5:45 a.m. after reports of a man breaking into vehicles.

Wesley Reynolds, 23, was identified as the suspect. Police said he had warrants from Junction City police for heroin possession, resisting arrest and harassment.

Police said they attempted to arrest Reynolds and he began fighting the officers, who called for assistance and used pepper spray and a Taser. They eventually took him into custody.

Both officers were taken to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. Reynolds was taken to a hospital as a precaution after reportedly ingesting heroin.

Other charges are pending.
