EUGENE, Ore. -- The city of Eugene, in part with other community sponsors, hosted the third annual Willamette River Festival Saturday.
The event ran from 11 A.M. to 5 P.M. at Alton Baker Park and organizers say the point is to give people a feeling of ownership over the river that runs right through our city.
Families participated in different activities that were all meant to honor and celebrate the river.
There were rafting and kayak tours up and down the river as well interactive art exhibits and food vendors.
Organizers of the event say every year they feel honored to celebrate the river.
They say next year they hope to expand the festival to two days especially with the pending completion of the river front park project.
