Eugene apartment catches fire

The fire started just before 3 a.m.

EUGENE, Ore. -- Investigators are trying to figure out what caused a fire at an apartment complex early Tuesday morning.

Officials responded to Applewood Apartments on the northside of Eugene just after 3 a.m. They say the fire started on the deck of an upper unit. The fire was contained to that unit, but the surrounding apartments suffered smoke damage.

The resident was home at the time and no injuries were reported.
