EUGENE, Ore. -- The Eugene Mission got a nice surprise Monday morning when they received nearly 400 new coats from a donor from out of town.

Staff said the nonprofit organization "Operation Warm" located in Pennsylvania shipped 372 men's coats to their donation center. Operation Warm makes their own jackets to provide warmth to people throughout North America.

Staff said they are grateful for their generous donation, especially during this time of year when temperatures are frigid.

"Well these are brand new, and these are gifts that give our guest dignity, and keep them warm,” said Sheryl Balthrop, the Executive Director of the Eugene Mission. “Our guests are outside moving around and this makes a difference in their health and their ability to get through transportation and to navigate our streets.”

She said their donation center located across from their main office along West 1st Avenue is open Monday through Friday from 8a.m. until 4 p.m.
