EUGENE, Ore. – The Eugene Airport is boosting security, and staff say it will make it easier and quicker for travelers.

The airport just installed a third security screening lane that will be used for people with the TSA Precheck on their boarding pass.

There are 30 percent more passengers at the airport today compared to seven years ago. That means about 15,000 passengers go through security on any given day.

To keep up with the airport’s growth, Oregon Rep. Peter DeFazio said he worked hard to get funding for the screening lane.

“I can do everything I can to promote this city and my district in terms of bringing in needed business and economic activity, and the airport is absolutely crucial for that,” DeFazio said.

The new lane should help reduce checkpoint wait times and provide TSA Precheck availability during peak times.
