Employee at Eugene care facility tests positive for COVID-19

The employee does not provide direct patient care, health officials said.

EUGENE, Ore. – Lane County Public Health reported 34 new COVID-19 cases on Wednesday, and one of those cases is a staff member at a long-term care facility in Eugene.

Officials said the employee, who works at Good Samaritan Society at 494 W. 10th Ave., does not provide direct patient care. The facility is working with health officials to prevent additional spread.

The county’s total of confirmed and presumptive cases has reached 1,310. Of those cases, 185 remain infectious, and 11 people are hospitalized.

There have been at least 65,885 negative tests.

People who had contact with a case will be reached out to by Lane County Public Health.
