EUGENE, Ore. -- Oregon football held its first spring practice at the Moshofsky Center Thursday morning.

The start of spring ball also brings the start of the post-Justin Herbert era.

Sophomore quarterback Tyler Shough and redshirt freshman Cale Millen are among those competing for the starting role.

The Ducks will have a new-look offensive line as well. Outland Trophy winner Penei Sewell is the only returning starter to the offensive line.

The Ducks return a handful of key defensive players including Pac-12 Defensive Freshman of the Year Kayvon Thibodeaux.

"It's been a little while since the Rose Bowl," Oregon head coach Mario Cristobal said. "All of a sudden you get it and all you hear and all you see are t-shirts, and hats and some great highlights. Staying hungry, humble and driven and making sure that technique, fundamentals, relentless effort, execution are at the forefront of everything we do. All about Oregon right now. Not any opponent. But understanding that everything we do now will have a direct reflection on how we show up against North Dakota State on opening day and the rest of the season."

Oregon will hold its spring game at 2 p.m. on April 18 at Autzen Stadium.
