COOS BAY, Ore. -- As high winds sweep through southwestern Oregon, officials urged caution, saying driving conditions are hazardous.

A high wind advisory was issued, the National Weather Service said. Winds are blowing 40 to 45 mph in a south to southwest direction with gusts up to 75 mph.

Oregon Department of Transportation officials said drivers on Highway 101 and OR 42S near Bandon are facing harsh winds and rain.

Traffic is backed up on Interestate 5 southbound near Roseburg due to downed trees and power lines, officials said. Crews are on the scene.

Crews are also on the scene of a vehicle fire on I-5 southbound in Central Point, and the slow lane is closed.

Officials said to expect winter driving conditions this afternoon.
