Driver's body found in river a week after crash

A Coos Bay man has been found dead in a river more than a week after he crashed his Dodge truck on Highway 241.

COOS COUNTY, Ore. -- A Coos Bay man has been found dead in a river more than a week after he crashed his Dodge truck on Highway 241.

Oregon State Police said Tyler Boyd, 36, went off the road and hit a tree near milepost 11 at about 6:40 a.m. on Oct. 18. The vehicle went in the river and sank.

Passengers Lea Haigler, 30, and Casey Little, 34, both of Coos Bay were able to escape and made it to shore.



A Coast Guard helicopter searched the area, and two boat patrols searched the waterway. Dive teams with the Bandon Fire Department also responded. However, Boyd was not found at the time.

Boyd's body was finally located in the river on Oct. 27 at about 4:40 p.m. in the same area of the crash.
