EUGENE, Ore. -- A driver was arrested after a police chase Tuesday night, Oregon State Police said.

Benjamin Carlton, 26, of Federal Way, Washington, faces charges of second-degree assault, attempt to elude, reckless driving, first-degree criminal trespass, second-degree disorderly conduct, interfering with a peace officer and resisting arrest.

Police said they received a report that a driver had trespassed on a property and was trying to run people over. The caller followed the suspect on Interstate 5.

Officers tried to stop Carlton on the Coburg Road I-105 off-ramp, and police said the chase continued for about a mile into downtown Eugene.

The pursuit ended on Oak Street when Carlton's vehicle got high centered on tracks near the train station, police said.

Railroad employees said the tracks did not appear to be damaged.
