CANYONVILLE, Ore. – Investigators looking into a gun theft in Canyonville have charged a suspect in the case.

Charles Brabender, 24, of Drain is accused of breaking into a rental vehicle parked at a business in the 100 block of Chief Miwaleta Lane and taking two guns and several thousands of dollars in firearm accessories.

Deputies with the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office started investigating Sept. 4 and identified Brabender as a suspect.

A search warrant was served at a property associated with Brabender in the 600 block of Irving Drive in Myrtle Creek. Authorities say they recovered the stolen firearms and the associated items.

Brabender, who had been arrested earlier on unrelated charges, was charged with unlawful entry into a motor vehicle, three counts of first-degree theft and two counts of being a felon in possession of a firearm in connection with the theft case.
