ROSEBURG, Ore. – Douglas County has seen a record number of COVID-19 cases in a single day since the start of the pandemic, public health reported on Thursday.

County officials said “disappointed would be an understatement.”

In addition to 44 new cases reported on Thursday, the county has also seen the highest three-day consecutive total – 116.

The county total of confirmed and presumptive cases is now 2,108. Right now, 12 cases are hospitalized.

County officials said they have been among the counties with the lowest case counts in the entire United States, but that success is slipping away.

“Now more than ever, we need your help,” county officials said.
