SWEET HOME, Ore. – In hopes of being able to identify a woman whose remains were found near Sweet Home last year, detectives are releasing a new composite drawing.

The Linn County Sheriff’s Office said they and the state medical examiner’s office have worked with a private forensic DNA service to learn more about the woman.

Her body was found in April 2020 near Gordon Road east of Sweet Home on US Forest Service Road 417. Initial information indicated she was white, between the ages of 30 and 50 at the time of her death and had short, wavy brown hair.

With help from Parabon Nanolabs, detectives say they now have more characteristics to add to the list, including fair skin, green or hazel eyes and no to few freckles.

Using this new information, a composite sketch of the unidentified woman has been drawn up, and additional DNA analysis is underway.

Detectives said the woman was found wearing a purple Apana brand zip-up athletic jacket, size extra small, a green BKE Core brand camisole, a Victoria’s Secret heather gray sports bra, a black bandanna, Wrangler’s brand blue jeans and black Steve Madden brand dress boots, size 9.5.

At this point in the investigation, more than one hundred tips have rolled in, but the woman’s identity and the cause and manner of her death are still unknown. If you have any information, detectives urge you to contact them at 541-967-3950.
