CORVALLIS, Ore. – The Benton County Sheriff’s Office is seeking the public’s help identifying a suspect in a criminal mischief case from Jan. 10.
Authorities said a man has been cutting down trees in Oregon State University’s McDonald-Dunn Research Forest to build a cabin-type structure.
The man has been caught on camera building the structure on land about 10 miles north of the OSU campus.
“The Forest is extensively used for university instruction and research,” OSU officials said. “Four distinct forest management themes, even-aged, two-storied and uneven-aged, plus reserved old-growth stands, allow side-by-side comparisons of the effects of implementing these themes.”
Anyone with information is asked to contact the sheriff’s office at 541-766-6874.
