Person of interest identified in alleged stabbing near Florence

Deputies said the stabbing happened earlier this afternoon and the suspect was last seen walking towards the dunes from the Goose Pasture ATV staging area.

LANE COUNTY, Ore. - Lane County Sheriff's Deputies have identified a person of interest in an alleged stabbing that happened in the area of the Oregon Dunes National Recreation Area south of Florence.

Deputies said the stabbing happened earlier this afternoon and the suspect was last seen walking towards the dunes from the Goose Pasture ATV staging area.

The Lane County Sheriff’s Office has identified 40-year old Robert Gavin Bowers as a person of interest. Deputies said Bowers is likely homeless and most commonly travels on foot.

Bowers could be armed and should not be approached.

The Sheriff’s Office would like to remind the public to refrain from picking up hitchhikers and to report suspicious activity to law enforcement.

Anyone with information regarding Bowers’ whereabouts is asked to call 911.
