Deputies respond to shooting near Dorena

A suspect is in custody.

DORENA, Ore. – Lane County Sheriff’s deputies responded to a shooting near Dorena Tuesday night.

It started as a medical emergency call, but additional reports came in of an active dispute with shots fired at the location on the 39000 block of Row River Road.

Oregon State Police and Cottage Grove Police also responded to the scene.

No one was shot, but two people were taken to a hospital with injuries that were not life threatening. One of the victims was reportedly experiencing an unrelated medical issue prior to the dispute. Police said the people involved in the shooting knew each other.

Suspect Warren Colbert, 54, was taken to the Lane County Jail on two counts of first-degree assault, three counts of unlawful use of a weapon, multiple counts of fourth-degree assault and of menacing, and three counts of reckless endangering.

There is no ongoing threat to the community.
