NORTH BEND, Ore. -- Just days after an ATV crash killed a woman at the Oregon Dunes National Recreation Area, Coos County deputies are reporting a second incident.

A California man was cited in the most recent crash.

At about 8:15 p.m. on Wednesday, deputies received a report of an injury crash in the area. Hauser Fire Department and Bay Cities Ambulance also responded.

RELATED: ONE DEAD IN OREGON DUNES ATV CRASH

The crash happened northwest of Beaver Slide Hill.

Two people were riding in a class four side-by-side ATV when they became airborne off of a dropoff and traveled about 25 feet through the air and nose-dived into a hill on the opposite side.

Neither was wearing a seatbelt or helmet.

Driver Erik Kinney, 26, of Fairfield, California, suffered a severe laceration to his head and a concussion. Passenger Alexis Mandujano, 20, of Citrus Heights, California, received a strained jaw and sprained ankle.

They were both taken to Bay Area Hospital and released.

Kinney was cited for driving under the influence of intoxicants, dangerous operation of an ATV and no operating privilege for a class four ATV.

On Saturday evening, a different ATV crashed at the dunes, killing 25-year-old Celmi Lopez of Sacramento, California. The sheriff's office said she was ejected from a rental Polaris XP 1000 ATV after the driver, Ivan Noriega, 27, crested the top of a dune and lost control. It happened at about 6:20 p.m.

The vehicle flipped several times, and Lopez was not wearing a seatbelt. Her helmet was lost in the crash as well. She was pronounced dead at the scene. Noriega was not injured.

Deputies issued a warning, urging those who drive on or off the dunes to use caution and always use appropriate protective equipment.
