Deputies investigating after woman is found dead in Willamette River

At this time there has been no obvious indication of foul play.

EUGENE, Ore. - The Lane County Sheriff's Office is investigating after a woman was found dead Tuesday evening in the Willamette River.

At 6:05 p.m., authorities received a report of a non-responsive woman in the river near the Ferry Street bridge. 

Lane County Sheriff’s Search and Rescue personnel and deputies responded along with the Eugene Police Department and Eugene/Springfield Fire Department.

The person was located and determined to be deceased. It is unknown how long she was in the water when she was spotted by someone in the area. 

This incident is under active investigation and not many details are yet available.

At this time there has been no obvious indication of foul play.
