COTTAGE GROVE, Ore. – A robbery suspect was taken into custody Sunday after fighting with a Dairy Queen employee and officers, police said.

Officers responded to 714 Highway 99 South at about 8:30 p.m. after receiving reports of a robbery involving a masked man with a gun.

Upon arriving, police said they found the suspect fighting with an employee. Two other employees had run from the building after the robber confronted them.

Ryan Howard was arrested and is in the Lane County Jail facing charges of second-degree robbery and second-degree burglary, assault, menacing, resisting arrest, interfering with police and harassment.

The manager at the restaurant told KEZI that that Howard tried to push a woman exiting the women's bathroom back inside, telling her not to scream. When she did scream, the manager said one employee sprung into action.

The employee not only wrestled the suspect away from the woman, but wrestled him to the ground.

The manager said the employee is all right and she is thankful for his bravery.
