Resident taken to hospital after home catches fire

Eugene-Springfield Fire responded to reports of heavy smoke coming from a home on April 13.

EUGENE, Ore -- On Friday, April 13, Eugene-Springfield firefighters responded to a house fire around 8:20 a.m. Crews told KEZI 9 News a medic also responded to the scene upon hearing an additional report of a person inside the home.

When crews arrived on scene, they said there was heavy smoke coming out of the building. A neighbor was attempting to help the get the resident to safety. 

The resident was taken to the hospital for smoke inhalation. Fire crews said there is currently heavy smoke damage to the home and it is temporarily unlivable. There is no visible fire damage from the outside of the house.
