Highway 36 near Cheshire reopens after fatal crash

A motorcyclist is dead after a crash near Cheshire.

CHESHIRE, Ore. -- Oregon State Police are investigating a fatal crash on Highway 36 near Cheshire. 

The crash happened at about 4:40 p.m.

Officials say Jesse Hayworth, 34, of Springfield was riding a Honda motorcycle east on the highway and crashed into a two-seat ATV that was crossing the highway.

Hayworth was pronounced dead at the scene.

The two people on the ATV, an 88-year-old Junction City man and an 87-year-old woman, were taken to a local hospital.

Following the incident, the highway was shut down for the investigation. It has since been reopened.
