EUGENE, Ore. -- A man is in the hospital after being hit by a car near Chambers Street and 11th Avenue in Eugene Tuesday evening.
At about 8:30 p.m., Eugene police received a report that a man had been hit while crossing the street.
Further investigation found that the man was crossing when he shouldn't have been, and the Don't Walk sign was on in the crosswalk when a car going the speed limit ended up hitting the man, police said. The driver, a Eugene woman, had a green light and was not able to brake in time.
He was taken to the hospital with minor injuries and is expected to be OK. The man is being cited for disobeying the walk sign and the driver is not facing any charges.
The area was closed off while law enforcement investigated.
