Court documents say Hicks claimed he and his father had been fighting all day at their townhouse on South 8th Street.

He told investigators that his father had hit him with the bat first and he took the bat and hit his father until he stopped moving and could not retaliate. However, police did not observe swelling where Hicks said he was hit.
