City of Eugene taking over PeaceHealth Rides

The city is looking for a new organization to run the program after the previous operator decided to end service in June.

EUGENE, Ore. – The city of Eugene will be taking over PeaceHealth Rides later this month.

The change is a temporary measure as the city looks for an organization to run the bike-share program.

PeaceHealth said there won’t be any interruption in service.

The previous operator, Uber subsidiary Social Bikes, is leaving the bike-share business and will end service on June 30.

PeaceHealth said many rely on PeaceHealth Rides to get to work or school, and others use it to explore the city. More than 21,000 membership accounts have been created since the launch of the program in April 2018.
