PLEASANT HILL, Ore. -- Officials said a woman who fell asleep at the wheel Friday morning crashed into a power pole and caused it to fall on another car.

The crash happened around 8:30 on Jasper Road in Pleasant Hill.

Officials said the woman was headed south when she crossed the center lane and hit the pole on the other side of the road. They said she woke up and regained control of her car, but the pole fell onto a car headed north.

The man driving that car said the pole went across the hood and the transformer crashed right in front of his face and shattered his windshield.

"Well at first I thought she hit ice, my adrenaline was going so hard," Ken Gates, the other driver, said. "I was just pumped up, man. I just got out, got down there and checked her out to make sure she was alright and I was a little shaky for a while. I had to go get a Pepsi."

Officials said the woman was taken to the hospital as a precaution, but no one was hurt.
