EUGENE, Ore. – A burglary suspect was arrested with the help of a police dog overnight in Eugene.

Police responded to a burglary in progress at Vero Café, 205 E. 14th Ave., at about 1:15 a.m. on Tuesday.

They said a man was seen trying to get into the business by forcing his way through a window. Shortly after, police dog Cwyk and his partner found the suspect on a neighboring property.

Christian Blunt, 26, of Eugene allegedly refused to obey directions. Police said he grabbed the dog, pulling at his leash, and made attempts to push away.

Blunt was evaluated by medics, arrested and taken to the Lane County Jail. He faces charges of second-degree burglary, second-degree criminal trespass, interfering with police and resisting arrest.
