Police: Report of kidnapping attempt in Eugene was false

UPDATE: The report of an attempted kidnapping on Fox Hollow Road and Larkwood Street Wednesday morning was false, police said.


EUGENE, Ore. -- A middle-school boy reported an attempted kidnapping in Eugene Wednesday morning, police said.

The boy said a man in his mid-60s grabbed him from behind at Fox Hollow Road and Larkwood Street at about 8 a.m. He said he was able to get away and then reported what happened.

Police said the man is described as having gray, shoulder-length hair, grey stubble and a heavy build. He is connected to a silver Mercedes sedan that looks like an SUV. The boy said the car had black cardboard in the back windows and a dent in the front and rear bumpers.
