FINN ROCK, Ore. -- A bomb threat at McKenzie School District canceled classes Monday, and all activities have also been canceled, district officials said.

Lane Tompkins, superintendent and principal with the district, said a phone call was made to the school district at 1:25 p.m. saying there were bombs in the elementary school.

Both the elementary and middle/high schools were immediately evacuated to the McKenzie Community Track. All students and staff were safe and accounted for.

Tompkins said students took it seriously, and he was impressed with the staff's response.

Some parents picked up their children Monday afternoon, and school buses took students home early. Classes normally end at 3:50 p.m.

Tompkins said the district coordinated with local law enforcement.
