ROSEBURG, Ore. -- A body was found in the South Umpqua River Monday morning.
Officials said the body was floating face down just west of Micelli Park in Roseburg about 25 to 30 feet from shore.
The body has been identified as female.
Roseburg Police Department, Roseburg Fire Department, Douglas County District #2 Fire Department and the Douglas County Sheriff's Office responded to the incident. The body was retrived by Fire District #2's boat.
One witness told KEZI 9 News that they're still in shock over the incident.
“We’re just all really upset today," said Roxanne Tracy. "And we don’t know, we’re just all really emotional and don’t know what to think of it.”
Officials have not released the identity as they they are still waiting to notify family members.
They said the body was fully clothed and they have ruled out foul play as there were no indication of physical injury.
The investigation is still ongoing.
