EUGENE, Ore. -- After nearly two decades of serving donuts to the Eugene community, Bob’s Donuts on Garfield Street will be closing its doors on Oct. 26.
Owner Quynh Cook said she and her husband bought the donut shop over a decade ago when they moved here from Vietnam. But after he died two years ago, Cook’s been running the show all by herself. She said she makes over 5,000 donuts a day and sells nearly all of them.
Her regular customers are sad she’s leaving, but Cook said she’s happy for their business and their support over the years.
“I told a customer, good news for me and bad news for you. He said why? I told him I sold my business. No more donuts here. He said where do I go now?” Cook said. “I said you can go to Carl Donut’s. It’s the same recipe. But he said they don't take Visa.”
Cook said she’s looking forward to the next phase of her life of spending more time with her daughter and traveling. She also said she can’t wait to work a job where she doesn’t have to work 19 hour days.
