LANE COUNTY, Ore. -- May is Bike Month in Eugene and Springfield, and there are many ways you can take part in Lane County.
The month highlights the many benefits of biking, and leaders within the county encourage more people to give it a try. The month-long celebration is hosted by the City of Eugene Transportation and the City of Springfield.
There are various physically-distanced rides, online talks, classes and discounts around the community.
You’re advised to take your bike to a local bike shop for a safety check to get ready to ride. It’s also important to note that wearing a helmet is required for children under 16 in Oregon.
Remember to follow the rules of the road and obey signs.
If you don't have a bike, PeaceHealth Rides is an option for you.
Bike Month has been celebrated here in Lane County for eight years.
