Bicyclist killed in crash on Highway 101

A second bicyclist suffered life-threatening injuries.

NORTH BEND, Ore. -- A bicyclist was killed in a crash near North Bend on Highway 101 on Sunday.

Oregon State Police said troopers responded to milepost 232 at about 1:12 p.m.

According to investigators, Renee Reiser, 56, of Florence, was driving a Nissan Titan northbound when it crossed over the fog line, hitting two bicyclists who were also headed north.

Jason Dixon, 42, sustained fatal injuries and was pronounced dead.

A second bicyclist, 52-year-old Robert Hammonds, was taken to a local hospital with life-threatening injuries.

The North Bend Police Department, North Bend Fire and Rescue and Oregon Department of Transportation assisted.
