Benton County resident dies of coronavirus

A Multnomah County resident has also died.

SALEM, Ore. – A Benton County woman has died due to the coronavirus, Oregon Health Authority said.

The woman was 88 years old. She tested positive April 11 and died April 13 at Good Samaritan Regional Medical Center.

A 71-year-old Multnomah County man has also died, OHA said. He tested positive April 1 and died April 12 at Legacy Mount Hood Medical Center.

OHA said they both had underlying medical conditions. The state death toll is now 55.

The state also reported 50 new cases on Tuesday, bringing the total to 1,633. They include one in Benton, three in Clackamas, one in Deschutes, three in Douglas, one in Jefferson, one in Klamath, one in Lane, nine in Marion, 22 in Multnomah, one in Tillamook, five in Washington, and two in Yamhill.
