SPRINGFIELD, Ore. -- PeaceHealth at RiverBend patients received a special treat on Friday when the Batmobile made a stop at the Springfield hospital.

Patients, visitors and caregivers got to check it out in person.

The vehicle was built in 1966 from molds of the original Batmobile, and it even appeared in a Batman TV series in 1967.

At the time, it could go 117 mph, and it shot flames through its turbine exhaust.

Parent Christina Ellenburg-Ridge said her son loved it.

“He really needed a break from the hospital, so it’s good. Very good,” Ellenburg-Ridge said.

The Batmobile was in town for the EUCON event, which was held at the Lane Events Center the following weekend.
