Authorities release details in Sutherlin shooting

The shooting involved a Roseburg man and his estranged wife.

SUTHERLIN, Ore. -- More information has come to light in a shooting in Sutherlin that left one dead on Saturday.

The Douglas County Sheriff's Office said the shooting at the Sutherlin Relax Inn involved Nicholas Holloway, 39, of Roseburg and his estranged wife.

Holloway reportedly confronted the woman and fired at her with a handgun, hitting her multiple times. He then turned the gun on himself in the parking lot. 

Deputies said the woman was taken to the hospital and Holloway died. She is in stable condition and is expected to survive. 

The Douglas County Major Crimes Team is investigating the incident alongside the Sutherlin Police Department.
