LEBANON, Ore. -- An Albany woman is facing charges after being accused of stealing thousands from her employer, police said.

Sherrie Tate, 53, was a bookkeeper for Cascade Mechanical in Lebanon from 2017 to Jan. 24.

The owners told investigators they found her through a temp agency and after months of working with her they decided to hire her.

On Jan. 26 after compiling tax documents, the owners thought only $8,000 had gone missing. But after investigating, they found out she had written 55 checks, for close to $28,000.

On Feb. 5 Tate was arrested and transported to the Linn County Jail.
